Fragments gather; the pulse holds. Scarlet remembers. Light refuses to dim.
In I Begin With My End, colour becomes both memory and momentum—a language carried as pulse rather than emblem. A poppy-intense undertone threads the surface; darkness bears it without possession. Motion gathers into cadence—bursts, rests, held notes—until what was fractured becomes tensile and alive. Fragments press, release, and reform until coherence appears—not tidy, but true; a surface scored by rupture and repair, steadied by the will to remain vividly here.
The work is born from a story of courage—a veteran, a friend—facing the nearness of ending with startling joy and courage. Her choice to live the days remaining as colourfully as possible transforms the canvas into a declaration: that the end, too, can hold beauty. Jenani translates that philosophy into abstraction—balancing fracture with harmony, restraint with release—creating a space where sorrow and celebration coexist without contradiction.
Released for Remembrance Day 2025, it stands within the contemplative ethos of Of Service: remembrance as renewal, care as practice, and colour as the courage to begin—inside the ending.
